New research shows that behavioural change tool Gro Health can improve symptoms of mental health after just 12 weeks of use.
Peer-reviewed evidence shows that after 12 weeks of using the Gro Health platform, participants reduced their symptoms of perceived stress by 23%, symptoms of generalised anxiety by 32%, and symptoms of depression by 33%.
Gro Health provides multi-platform access to remotely monitored behavioural change support. Users can engage in a library of on-demand behaviour change programmes providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT), on-demand activities, sleep aids, mindfulness techniques and exercises, and human coaching for counselling and guidance.
The app delivers therapeutic care in areas including weight management, mental health, hypertension, sleep, and cardiovascular disease. Users are able to log their health over time and connect with popular wearables and health services.
The study was conducted in conjunction with Royal Holloway, University of London during the COVID pandemic. The research evaluated the change in participants’ responses to standardised questionnaires which were shared on joining the app, and again at 12-week follow up.
Charlotte Summers, Chief Operations Officer at DDM said: “We are delighted to publish the impact of Gro Health on mental health. COVID has taken a huge toll on people’s mental health and Gro Health has been designed using behaviour change psychology, AI and the feedback of over 100,000 service users to provide precise, personalised care to people.”
Dr Peter Foley, Clinical Safety Officer at DDM said: “Prior to the COVID pandemic, my work as an NHS GP involved a significant amount of mental health. This has increased exponentially since early 2020 and continues to this day. Mental health can impact any person, at any time, regardless of age, background or circumstances. Very often, patients need a resource where they can go to learn, explore and understand their current feelings and perceived stresses. Gro Healthoffers patients a safe, non-judgemental and evidence-based tool for patients to explore their current mental health, at a pace that feels right for them, at a time that feels right for them. Feedback from a sample of 100,000 users has enabled us to further refine and consolidate Gro Health’s mental health support, which empowers users to not only explore their current mental health difficulties, but also develop and practice proven techniques to equip them for future challenges. ”
